LONDON — Telefónica UK, which operates the O2 mobile network in the UK, has appointed director of corporate affairs Nicola Green to its executive team.

Since joining O2 in March 2003, Green has emerged as one of Telefónica's key executives; as a member of the executive team, she will provide communications counsel and experience at the highest level of the company. The appointment gives O2 a majority female representation on its executive team.

Green leads an integrated communications function including PR, corporate and strategic communications, internal communications, public affairs and social media response. She was appointed to her current role in 2016, after serving for four years as director of communications and reputation.

She previously led consumer PR at Orange, where she built sponsorship properties such as BAFTA and Glastonbury Festival. Green was also a brand manager at Dr Pepper, and has worked in agency, looking after a number of FMCG brands at Burson-Marsteller.

This month, Green received the Holmes Report’s Outstanding Individual Achievement Award for her contribution to the UK communications industry. She said: “I am incredibly proud that corporate affairs is now represented at the top table at O2. I've spent my career campaigning on the value corporate affairs brings to significant decision-making in organisations, and I’m thrilled to be putting this into practice.”

Telefónica UK’s CEO Mark Evans added: “I am delighted to welcome Nicola to the executive team. During her time at O2, Nicola has made a substantial contribution to O2’s business strategy, providing senior strategic counsel and demonstrating an unrelenting commitment to our customers, employees and culture. I am excited by the contribution Nicola will make to our team as we strive to make every day better for our customers.”
