LONDON: Text 100 has extended its relationship with online payment provider PayPal into the UK, after consolidating more European markets in recent months.

At the start of this year, Text 100 added agency-of-record duties for PayPal in France and Italy, extending existing six-figure business that covered Spain, Sweden, Norway and Denmark.

The firm has also been assigned regional coordination duties for PayPal’s regional European business, except for Germany.

Last month, meanwhile, Text 100 was charged with handling executive communications for PayPal Europe CEO Renier Lemmens in the UK. The agency already handles this assignment on the Continent.

However, Text 100’s UK brief does not affect the status of PayPal’s existing UK AOR, Lansons.

The Next Fifteen agency added the new European business following a competitive RFP process that displaced incumbents I&E Consultants in France and Neosis in Italy.

Text 100 regional director of Central and Southern Europe Rowan Benecke told the Holmes Report that the firm’s social media capabilities played a key role in its win. The agency is partnering with sister Next Fifteen firm Beyond on the brief’s digital requirements.

Campaign objectives include maintaining user acquisition and increasing engagement with consumers and merchants. PayPal, which is owned by EBay, continues to see steady growth in Europe but its international presence remains dwarfed by its US operations.

Earlier this year, Text 100 relinquished its hold on PayPal’s Asia-Pacific PR account to The Hoffman Agency.
