LOS ANGELES — Vectis Strategies, a bi-partisan public affairs firm, has hired former executive director of the California Democratic party Kathy Bowler to head its Sacramento operation.

Bowler joins Vectis as director of state government relations. Most recently, she worked as the lead campaign consultant to the California State Assembly Democratic Caucus and before that she spent 14 years as the executive director of the California Democratic party.

Vectis launched in February 2013 as a bi-partisan public affairs and PR shop with its four founding members coming from both sides of the political aisle. The firm has offices in Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Diego and Washington DC.

Peter Kelly, the firm’s founding partner and former California Democratic party chairman credits Bowler with restoring “the fiscal and political operations of the state Democratic Party after the devastating 1994 election cycle.”

“She came in as executive director of the Democratic party and turned things around, and today the state of California is solidly blue,” said Kelly.

In addition, Bowler worked as California director for then-Vice President Al Gore’s 2000 presidential campaign and she was sent to Florida as part of the historic recount effort.

She started her career working for Nancy Pelosi, then state Democratic chair, and went on to work for David Roberti, then California state senate president pro tem.
