SÃO PAULO — Furthering its expansion in Latin America, Weber Shandwick has acquired Cappuccino, a digital marketing and tech agency based in São Paulo.

The deal, effective immediately, will expand Weber Shandwick’s capabilities by adding Cappuccino’s digital content, technology production and strategic planning offerings, the firm said in announcing the acquisition.

Cappuccino’s digital expertise includes content creation, social media, mobile paid distribution and SEO. Founded 20 years ago, it was one of Brazil’s first digital-focused agencies, and has led campaigns for clients including Ajinomoto, Arcor, Boeringher Ingelheim and Citi.

“The Cappuccino team’s diversity of talent and background brings additional creative and digital firepower to our team in Brazil,” said Weber Shandwick CEO Andy Polansky. “Together, we will work to continue placing platform knowledge, creativity and data-driven results at the core of our business."

The acquisition is part of Weber Shandwick’s larger push to further its presence in Latin America. Earlier this month, the agency opened an office in Bogotá, Colombia, adding to its owned and operated offices in Brazil and Mexico, and affiliates in Argentina, Chile and Peru.
